In the doctoral program, courses are defined in the following way:

- Technical Scientific Options (I to VI): are complementary and/or specialized courses that can be chosen from:

- 3rd cycle courses;

- 2nd cycle courses specifically related with the research theme;

- Other courses from other University of Minho or Engineering School, or from other national or foreign higher education institutions.

The DPISE directory board validates all the individual course plans.

- Behavior and Innovation Options (I and II): are courses with integrated and embracing contents.

These courses are defined yearly by the Scientific Committee of the Engineering School. The set of courses, recently approved, are described in the table below.

- Dissertation Planning (I, II, and III): are courses that will formally guide the students to the definition and structuring of the research topic.

- Design of the Dissertation I is devoted to the detailed definition of the research topic, its framing and relevancy.

- Design of the Dissertation II is devoted to qualitative and quantitative research methods for management.

- Design of the Dissertation III is devoted to the presentation and discussion of the research proposal in front of a jury who will decide on its approval and marking.

- Dissertation: are devoted exclusively to undertaking research work that will culminate in the writing of the doctoral thesis.
