QUALITY CONFERENCE 2026
On 8 April, the 3rd edition of the Quality Conference took place, organised by the Master’s in Engineering and Quality Management.
This year’s theme was “Engineering and Management Conference on Quality”.
The opening session was attended by Professor Paulo Sampaio, Head of the Department of Production and Systems, and Professor Leonilde Varela, Director of the Master’s Programme in Engineering and Quality Management, who emphasised the importance of quality in engineering education and its role in the sustainable development of organisations.
The event was characterised by knowledge-sharing, reflection and the strengthening of links between academia and industry, bringing together a diverse group of speakers who presented different perspectives on the role of quality in today’s systems.
Morning session
During the morning, Pedro Pinheiro addressed the issue of quality and ethics in artificial ecosystems within modern engineering; Gaspar Vieira presented hardware and software solutions for decision support; Paulo Sousa shared a practical perspective on the less visible aspects of quality; and Rui Galvão Brito highlighted the importance of quality engineering and management in the development of software for business and services.
Afternoon session
The afternoon featured a number of equally insightful presentations. Pedro Domingues highlighted the importance of models and methods in data correlation, Cristina Ferreira presented a practical approach to quality in a real-world context, Leonel Patrício shared his multidisciplinary journey between art and engineering, and Paolo Cadarso offered an international perspective on the Erasmus+ experience.
These conferences underscore the importance of quality as a central element in engineering and management, particularly in a context characterised by digital transformation, innovation and the growing complexity of systems.
The organisers would like to thank all the speakers and participants who contributed to the success of this year’s Quality Conference.
