SUMMER ON CAMPUS 2026
Summer Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management on Campus (18th Edition)
The Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (LEGI) took part in ‘Summer on Campus’, an initiative organised by the University of Minho that introduces secondary school pupils to the scientific and technological fields at UMinho.
Under the theme ‘TOWARDS THE FUTURE: Industrial Engineering and Management in Action’, LEGI contributed to the School of Engineering’s programme with eight practical activities, designed to raise awareness of this course, the skills it offers, the challenges of Industrial Engineering and Management, and the wide range of career opportunities available to graduates.
During the week of 20–24 July, participants had the opportunity to explore topics such as Distribution and Logistics, Renewable Energy Modelling, Information Processing, Assembly Line Design, Human Factors, Lean Thinking and Lean Healthcare, as well as visits to the DPS facilities and welcome sessions organised by the course management, NEEGIUM, ESTIEM and ALUMNIEGIUM.
An experience that enabled students to explore, try things out and choose their academic future with greater knowledge and confidence.
The DPS reaffirms its willingness to collaborate with schools and businesses, promoting initiatives that bring the community closer to the fields of Production and Systems.
SUMMER ON CAMPUS | LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: ENGINEERING AND INDUSTRIAL MANAGEMENT IN ACTION
Industrial Engineering and Management (EGI) is present in virtually all sectors of activity (manufacturing, services, consultancy and design, research, amongst others), focusing on the organisation and optimisation of resource utilisation (machinery, transport systems, tools, IT resources, people, space, financial resources, etc.), with the aim of improving performance.
Over the course of a week, we invite you to immerse yourself in the world of EGI — a field where technology and innovation go hand in hand with people management and sustainability, to shape the future of businesses and society.
On this programme, you’ll explore some of the course’s key areas, take part in practical activities and challenges, and meet our researchers, lecturers and students.
Join us and discover how you can design solutions, manage teams and transform the world for the better. Are you up for the challenge?
