MASTER'S DEGREE IN ENGINEERING AND DATA SCIENCE
The Master’s program in Engineering and Data Science (MECD) provides a second-cycle degree in the scientific field of Engineering and Data Science at the University of Minho, building on the first-cycle education in the same field offered by the Bachelor’s program in Data Science (LCD).
It should be noted that the LCD program has already been approved by A3ES and began in the 2022–23 academic year
The MECD aims to train professionals and researchers capable of contributing to the business and industrial sectors in an emerging (and high-demand) field of application, as well as to educational and research institutions in a scientific field that is both current and poised for a prominent future.
The curriculum was designed to ensure advanced competencies by reinforcing knowledge in various areas, namely: Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, and Law. It also reflects an interest in positioning this program within the European Higher Education Area, with a focus on ensuring that its curriculum aligns in terms of structure and duration with other leading programs in the field, thereby facilitating student mobility within the European Higher Education Area.
